Veneers are dental cosmetic covers that are applied to the front of your teeth. While typically made from porcelain, there are composite material options as well. Each material offers different benefits, which your cosmetic dentist can go over with you.
First, a mold of your teeth is taken. This way, the dentist can create veneers designed specifically for your teeth. The dentist will then remove the top layer from the teeth. This is a fraction of a millimeter, so very little of the tooth is actually removed. This is done so when the veneer is applied it runs flush with the rest of your teeth.
While your cosmetic dentist prepares the veneers made specifically for you, temporary veneers are applied. While these temps look beautiful, the veneers made just for you will look even better. When ready, the permanent veneers are bonded to your teeth, giving you a secure, beautiful smile.
